Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove discussed the importance of the team’s 1-0 win over Genoa in last night’s thriller at the Olimpico.

In his post-match interview with Roma TV, Bove said, “Today was fundamental because we wanted to secure sixth place. We know how the season went, we squeezed out every last drop of energy.”

“Today was yet another match in which we gave it our all. We hit the target many times, perhaps we were less precise than usual, and we conceded one counterattack too many but the desire to score was never lacking.”

“Even with one man down we continued to play and we were rewarded for it. We know that sometimes it’s not enough. In the first half we should have scored 1-2 goals and made our lives easier but we are happy.”

“The secret is that in the end we were more precise. Then when you have players like Lukaku who decide the match on a difficult cross. We were good at not giving up, in ten men it was far from easy.”

“The fans? They have always been there for more than two years, both when we win and when we lose. We thank them and I believe this is the spirit with which to move forward.”
